When I think back to my childhood, I feel very blessed to have grown up in Los Angeles. I was able to grow up in a city that values different cultures, promotes creativity, and values my talents.

I’ve spent a majority of my 22 years in Los Angeles, and especially in recent months, I’ve really felt connected to my city as it has protested for human rights, and continued to fight for equality. I’m grateful to have grown up in a place where people will not stand for injustice.

An LA protest

To me, Los Angeles symbolizes diversity; a melting pot in a way. LA pays an homage to various different cultures, including my own, which has always allowed to me to feel at home.

Being an artist, and an avid reader, I loved growing up in an area that supports my passions. Los Angeles is brimming with culture, book shops, and music.

LACMA. One of many LA museums, and my personal favorite.

In recent years, I have seen the homeless population grow tremendously in California. I have seen how both wealthy elites go about their lives, as well homeless individuals- the class divide is undeniable. As a result of COVID-19, the homeless population only continues to grow, with little aid from our government. I would like to find more ways to provide aid to these individuals and always encourage other citizens to help out as well.

Witnessing the class divide for myself propelled me to join a homeless relief non-profit, as well as work to get housing for many of Los Angeles’ residents.

I get my news from online mail sources because I do not watch TV, however, many LA dwellers do rely on TV news, as well as online articles. I truly believe if homeless communities were given more coverage, more people would be inclined to join this cause.
