I really interesting point the speaker made was that when we search online, our results are not simply objective, they correlate to things we ahve searched for, posted, interacted with, in the past. I also had a question for An about how how to switch to a more objective database, if possible. Is there a way to remove certain filters you’ve created over time or will you search history always reflect for your subjective taste?

She mentioned we have this discourse around filter bubbles as neccessarily bad things and she believes its something worth questioning. She said it is important for certain individuals to have a space to talk freely about religion, politics, etc. Filter bubbles aren’t bad or good, it just depends on how people are utilizing them.

I was unable to embed the meme I had in mind as it is a tik-tok video about arresting Breonna Taylor’s killers. The tik-tok attempted to bring awareness to the issue but mocked it in many ways and I was curous what An’s thoughts on it may be.
